Welcome to my reality.
In my reality the journey is a road - a road of gradual spiritual awakening - and I know that if I stay on the road and keep going forward then, one day at a time, everything will work out as it should.
It is useful that in my reality there are signposts on the road.
This web site and the accompanying book and CD represent an exploration of the signposts which I have encountered on the road. My hope is that this exploration will prove of benefit to others on the same journey.
It has become apparent to me over a number of years, drawing on the inspiration of the recovery of myself and others, and drawing on my work with others that the journey into recovery via self love to serenity is the same irrelevant of the starting point.
It seems to matter not whether the starting point is alcoholism, addiction, depression, trauma, anxiety or just life itself the journey from darkness into light remains the same.
Nor does it seem to matter what the vehicle for that journey is - whether therapy or a 12 step programme or just self utilisation of the character traits of honesty, courage and hard work.
What does seem to matter is just enough faith to believe that recovery is possible and my message is, if it is nothing else, that is true.
We just need the courage to look deep into ourselves, enough honesty to appreciate and accept the insight that will give us and be prepared to do the hard work which will enable us to become conscious and to be present in our own lives.
I have long wanted to write this book, but until I discovered poetry it proved impossible. (See bio for more information.)
I have also long drawn inspiration from the sea. All the images on this web site are photographs taken at Whitby - on the North Yorkshire coast - a place which, even in my dark years, could invoke in me feelings of calm and of peace.
